Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute Offers Support Groups
As a patient of the Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute (CBSI), you are invited and encouraged to join our monthly bariatric surgery support groups. Support groups are held on the first Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. For 2018, all support groups will be scheduled in conference room “Inspiration B” at Parker Adventist Hospital.
Support group is an open forum that allows you to chat with other patients, discuss issues you are encountering, and talk with the nutritionists. These group meetings provide great support for our patients who often build new friendships and support systems with others in the same situation.
Support Group Events
We also have “support group events” 6 to 7 times a year. Some of these special events include things like a grocery store tour, dining out (learning how to make good menu selections), or a seminar with a plastic surgeon or a personal trainer. These special events are always well attended and provide meaningful information for patients as they journey through this major change in life.
Participation in CBSI Support Groups Encouraged
As a patient of CBSI, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of all the great support systems we provide. Support groups are a valuable aid in learning and feeling comfortable with modifications in your daily diet and lifestyle. Talking and sharing with other patients helps you realize any limitations you may feel, and that these limitations likely pale in comparison to those experienced by the person who continues to be morbidly obese. Bring your family and friends as well, as support groups can be a great source of support and encouragement to them as they assist you in achieving your goals.
